Grand View News

Good afternoon Grand View Parents.

Yesterday marked 3 weeks in school. During that time Grand View students and parents have done an outstanding job keeping kids safe and following COVID procedures.

While other area schools have closed school sites, we have been fortunate. We have only sent two small groups home, and movedthe 5th grade to virtual learning through Labor Day.

The small groups were quarantined as a result of contact tracing. And since 40% of 5th grade was going into quarantine protocol, we opted to move the entire class to virtual learning.

We have had 6 positive cases. Only one case seems to have developed during school time. All others were family exposure or illness that occurred on weekends, evenings or were carried over from summer vacation. In summary, masks and vaccinations are working for Grand View

Your students are washing hands, socially distancing, and helping keep the school clean. Teachers are cleaning, using partitions on school desks, and implementing the use of seating charts. Most importantly, teachers, administrators, staff, and your students are wearing their masks, these steps are all necessary to keep our school open and keep our kids safe. They also work to fight the RSV that has impacted two of our students.

Please remember the most important thing parents can do is to screen their children daily and never send them to school if they feel ill or are running a fever

We can all do our part to remain in school. Everyone wants to get back to a normal school year. Please continue to work with your child and help them do their part to keep school open. If you have any questions about COVID or our safety procedures, please call our Health Aide, Ladona Walls at 918-457-0112.

Finally, remember that Friday, September 3 will be a Virtual Learning Day and the campus will be closed. On Tuesday, August 31 we will have a "dress rehearsal" for the Virtual Learning Day by simulating the virtual learning model during the school day. These days will give us practice in the event we have to move to a Virtual Learning model due to a widespread outbreak causing a school closure.

Thank you for supporting our procedures to keep Grand View students and staff safe. These efforts help keep us all at school.

Regards,

Ed Kennedy
