The Cherokee Nation presented more than $6.3 million to 107 school districts during the tribe's annual Public School Appreciation Day held in a virtual format recently.  Superintendent Ed Kennedy said the contributions from the Cherokee Nation are important to Grand View School. "In the past 10 years, our Cherokee enrollment has grown.  We used the funds for a variety of things, including Cherokee Language and Culture classes, but last year, our school board specified how funds should be spent. Grand View School Board approved a resolution that dedicates a minimum of 80% of the Cherokee Nation motor vehicle allocation funds to instructional programs focused on the Cherokee language and Cherokee culture.  This ensures continuation of these special programs for Grand View students," said Kennedy. Grand View School was among 3 schools featured in a "thank you to Cherokee Nation" video that was played during this virtual event.
