Welcome Grand View Parents,

The time is finally here! We look forward to having your students back in school Wednesday, August 9th. School starts at 8 AM and dismisses at 3 PM. The teachers’ regular hours are from 7:30 AM until 3:30 PM. You are encouraged to sign up for the before and after school program for additional supervision.

Please don’t forget that Monday, August 7th is Open House (drop in) from 5:30 PM until 7 PM. Students will be given their classroom assignments at that time.

We are excited about our construction projects that are underway but traffic will be a challenge. If you are dropping off or picking up your child, plan on it taking longer than normal, especially for the first few days. The best way to alleviate congestion and time spent in traffic is to have your students ride the bus if they are able. Carpooling with neighbors and friends is also helpful.

PreK and Kindergarten car traffic will enter off of Burchett Rd. Elementary, and Middle School traffic will utilize the gravel parking lot across from the school on Jarvis Rd. We have made space in that parking lot to get as many cars off of the road as possible while waiting in line.

This year, several different construction projects are taking place. We completed a pavement project along Jarvis Rd this summer funded by the Cherokee Nation. A new playground will be ready when school starts. A new parking lot, new office/entrance, and corridor to the Elementary is under construction now and will be completed this winter. This is funded with Federal Grant money combined with district building funds. Another project that will begin this year is the addition of 6 classrooms including a safe room that will be funded with a combination of district building funds and bond money that was voted last spring.

Best wishes for a super year! We are committed to helping every student learn at high levels. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions to that end.
