School is back in session, and our band has been hard at it thanks to our hardworking band teacher, Mr. Alex Cobb. Since school is up and running, that means new events, and schedules for our band.

On August 25th through September 8th the band will be holding the Blue and Gold Fundraiser. Mr. Cobb stated, “the Blue and Gold fundraiser will be used to raise money for the advanced band students' spring trip, as well as helping expenses for instrument maintenance, while the younger grades will earn money towards a trip for when they are in the advanced band.”

The upcoming Tahlequah Homecoming parade will be held on September 16th starting at 1:30 p.m. and performed by the 7th and 8th graders.

Mr. Cobb said, “we are excited to show what we’ve been working on every day. The kids have been putting in lots of practice at home as well as in class, and I think it will be easy to see when we get there.” Mr. Cobb also stated, “I have always held high expectations for my students. I see in my mind what they can achieve before they see it, and it drives me to encourage them to do their best every day to reach their goals, in life and in music.”

Other events the band is participating in is the Veteran’s Day Parade on November 11th starting at 9:00 a.m. The Winter Concert will be on December 12th at 6:30 p.m and performed by the 5th through 8th grade. The next day will be the Winter Daycert, December 13th at 10:15 a.m.
