The football season begins Thursday, August 25th against Zion. The Chargers are hoping to improve upon last season. Ryan McMurray is the head coach of the Chargers in his third season. For this season we asked a few questions, one being; What are you looking forward to this season? Coach McMurray replied, “ I'm looking forward to seeing how our incoming 7th graders handle "big boy ball!" It's a little different from 5th and 6th grade ball. I'm also looking forward to seeing our 8th graders step up and become leaders of this team.” The second question was; What does a game of football mean to you personally? “The game of football means a lot to me. I started playing when I was in 7th grade. It taught me a lot about life. It made me who I am today. It taught me how to be a leader and also taught me the true meaning of Brotherhood” Our last and final question for the coach was; What makes you want to coach Grand View 5th-8th football teams? “I’ve been coaching football since I was a senior in high school. Like I mentioned before, football taught me a lot of life lessons and my goal has always been to teach these kids how to be respectable young men.”
Our football players have been putting in so much work this season to get ready for this 2022 football season. Here are some of our players' responses to how they feel about this season. Runningwolf Thompson, the 7th and 8th QB, says he likes being a part of the Charger football team because,”everyone is very competitive in this sport.” Chujah Flute, the backup 7th and 8th QB, says if he could describe practice in one word it would be,” very hard.” Brody Moore, the 5th and 6th QB, says this season he is looking forward to,” just play.” Giovanni Sierra, the 5th and 6th left corner, says if he could describe practice in one word it would be,“perfect.”
