Grand View News

Upon consultation with Cherokee Nation Public Health officials, Grand View School has adopted the new CDC guidelines for quarantine and isolation. This will immediately change the return date for some students. Please contact our Health Aide, Mrs. Ladona Walls if your child is currently in quarantine. (918) 456-5131 ext 505 She will let you know if they can return to school on an earlier date.

The new guidelines are also favorable for students and staff that have been vaccinated. No quarantine will be required if a vaccinated individual is exposed , but has no symptoms.

These guidelines should help keep students and staff on campus for in-person learning, while still providing high levels of safety.

Please remember to:

  • Check for symptoms and take temps every morning.
  • Do not send your child to school if someone in the home is ill or about to go in for testing.
  • Sign the consent form so that your child may be tested at school. (We will call before testing, even with a consent form on file.)

While other area schools are closing, students, staff, and parents are doing things to keep Grand View open. Masks and school cleanliness have made a difference. Our staff recently reached an 85% vaccination rate. And parents are getting more students vaccinated. Thank you all.

Finally, Mrs.Walls is always your COVID point of contact. She regularly consults with the Oklahoma Department of Health, Cherokee Nation Public Health, and an advising RN. Ladona will work with you to answer questions regarding COVID quarantine dates, isolation timelines, test results, or vaccination  strategies. If she is busy when you phone-in, please leave a message. She will return your call.

You can review the pdf file to see the if-then steps related to isolation and quarantine.
