13 November 2020
In response to Cherokee County’s COVID ranking being labeled “RED,” Grand View School will switch to Distance/Virtual Learning for all students beginning Monday, November 16. As a result of the building closure, a contingency plan utilizing a distance learning format is being initiated for all special education students for the time period November 16-November 30, 2020.
During this time period, special education services will be delivered through a distance learning model as outlined on the services page of your child’s IEP. IEP service providers and teachers are available by any applicable means (i.e. email, phone conversation, virtual communication through school approved channels) during posted school and/or office hours. Face-to-face meetings and/or face-to-face instruction may be available, by appointment, if not limited by local and/or state school officials in cooperation with local, state and federal health authorities and/or guidelines.
The Grand View District is following guidance from the Oklahoma State Department of Education’s Special Services Division on how to incorporate distance learning contingencies into an IEP due to Covid-19 issues. Items relating to the contingency plan are marked throughout your child’s IEP as contingency.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s special education teacher. Additional questions or concerns may also be directed to the office of the Special Services Director at 918-456-5131, ext 406. Please update changes to your contact information (phone, address, email) with your child’s special education teacher or the front office.
