Grand View School administration continues to carefully monitor COVID-19 discussions related to the fall re-opening of our school. Involvement with our educational colleagues ensures that we develop a plan for our school that meets the best practices model, while keeping our students and staff safe.
Superintendents statewide are involved with weekly Zoom meetings through our organization, Oklahoma Association of School Administrators. We also participate in State Superintendent Hofmeister's weekly Zoom meetings. Additionally, the Oklahoma State School Board Association and the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administrators provides routine updates and resources from the Center for Disease Control and from school agencies nationwide. All of the information is being considered as the plan to start school is being developed.
Here are some key points to be aware of:
a) We do have crews working on maintenance, central office procedures and planning for next year, but the school building is still closed for business. We will open for necessary services on July 6.
b) Guests are required to wear face masks and have temperature checks if they come on campus.
c) Free Food Pick-up is available each Monday through July. Pick-up times run 12:00-6:00 PM. Some students may still have personal items, school supplies or grade cards that need to be picked up.
d) The fall semester is scheduled to start on August 6. Any variation or special plans that are implemented because of COVID will be communicated as early as possible.
e There will not be a traditional open house. At this time it appears we will have a virtual open house. We will likely separate these on different nights for middle school, elementary school and the early childhood center.
f) We will soon be using the school website and social media to announce an online enrollment model. We encourage families to utilize the online model to limit contact and insure all necessary documents are included. While students new to the Grand View district will benefit from this model, the families of returning students will really appreciate the convenience of this online option. So that the virtual open house is most beneficial, we will attempt to have all schedules and homeroom assignments set for those that are enrolled prior to July 31.
g There will be specific dates for on-site enrollment. Those will begin after July 6. Watch the webpage or social media for details.
h) Any changes or policy adoptions related to school rules, the school schedule, and the school calendar will be announced after the July 21 meeting of the Grand View School Board.
i) We will also be mailing a letter that will have details related to enrollment. COVID guidelines, new rules related to health and safety, and general information.
Again, we are so thankful that the Grand View parents, patrons and staff have worked together to ensure our students remain safe and get an education. Your patience, planning and understanding mindset have made the inconvenience tolerable for everyone involved. We are certain that the Grand View resolve will overcome any challenges we face during the 2020-21 school year.
